About this place

The storytellers' bazaar of the Khyber.

For centuries, camel caravans arriving off the Silk Route stopped here to trade news over cups of green kahwa, earning this market its name, the Bazaar of Storytellers. Today it remains one of the liveliest trading streets in Peshawar's old city, dried fruit, copperware, leather goods and spice stalls crowding narrow lanes just two streets from the historic Kabuli Gate. It is best explored on foot in the late afternoon, when the bazaar is busiest and the smell of fresh naan and kebabs fills the air.
