About this place
The 700 year old fort of the Mirs of Hunza.
Perched above Karimabad with Rakaposhi filling the horizon, Baltit Fort was the seat of the Mirs of Hunza for over 700 years before being restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in the 1990s. Inside, carved wooden balconies, defensive towers and a small museum trace the fort's Tibetan-influenced architecture and the succession of rulers who lived here. The terrace outside remains one of the single best viewpoints in the whole Hunza valley.
